Wacky Wednesday Science Fact: Condor

This week we featured Sesame Street as one of the Top 10 Kids’ Shows of the 80s.

In an episode of Sesame Street, Big Bird was asked if he was related to the cassowary, and he replied, “I'm more of a condor." Condors are really interesting birds. They do not have vocal cords, so they force air through their bodies to make hissing and grunting noises. They are genetically related to storks, and they eat as much as three pounds at a time during a feeding.

However, on the January 23, 1976 episode of Hollywood Squares, Big Bird told host Peter Marshall he was a lark, so who knows?

Happy Wacky Wednesday!
