With the proper training, these animals are great with kids, which is a bonus for many families. Typically about three feet tall and around 200 pounds, miniature donkeys eat hay and grain and require fresh water and space to roam.

3. Potbellied pigs. Potbellied pigs make an adorable addition to your family. Not only are they cute, but you can train them to walk on leashes, and they are smart and affectionate. They can get to be up to 100 pounds while still being the size of a 40-pound dog.
