Recipe: The Best Macaroni and Cheese Ever
Mouseaphants love cheese and what better way to eat cheese than with macaroni? Don’t settle for out-of-the-box! Boil eight ounces of macaroni, and in a medium sauce pan, combine three tablespoons of butter, ¼ cup of all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of dry mustard, ¼ teaspoon of black pepper and 1/8 teaspoon of smoked paprika, stirring constantly. Add 2.5 cups of 2% milk while continuing to stir for 10 minutes. Once the sauce has thickened, add two cups of grated cheddar cheese. Once the cheese melts, combine with pasta and bake in a casserole dish for 25 minutes. Top with extra cheddar and chopped bacon for an extra treat!
Recipe: Homemade Cream Puffs
Skip the bakery and make your own cream puffs by mixing two packages of vanilla instant pudding mix, two cups of heavy cream and one cup of milk. Cover and chill in the refrigerator. Bring one cup of water to a boil and add one cup of all-purpose flour and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Once the dough forms, transfer it to a mixing bowl. Beat in four eggs, and then drop small balls of dough onto a baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown. Once the puffs have cooled, add the pudding mixture with a pastry bag for a delicious homemade treat.
Recipe: Copycat Candied Cashews
You know those amazing street vendors that sell candied nuts? You can recreate them in your own home with this great copycat recipe! You’ll need two tablespoons of water, one cup of sugar and 1.5 cups of raw, plain cashews. Boil water and allow sugar to dissolve. Add the nuts, making sure they are coated. When the water evaporates, the sugar will crystallize on the nuts. You can add ground cinnamon or vanilla extract for additional flavor.
Recipe: Apple Cider
It’s beginning to look (and feel) a lot like Christmas, so warm up with this delicious homemade cider. All you need is an orange, 10 apples, three cinnamon sticks, two teaspoons of ground cloves, sugar and a slow cooker, and you’ll be warming up from the inside out!
